Skip the Fergburger at Queenstown and take a trip to Lake Tekapo for some of the best burgers you'll have in the South Island. Their Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger is insanely good; buns were soft, greens were fresh, the chicken was flavorful, and the caramelized onions were just so good. Highly rate their potato bites as well! So crunchy and filling. Would highly recommend you grab a bite here if you're ever in the area. 10/10, great value.
Overall: 5/7 Another quaint food truck with friendly staff. Right beside the fish and chip truck. Really nice people with an interesting menu. Sadly I think we did not pick many winners this time. Would revisit to try other items as it can be seen that they care about their outputs. Prawn burger: 4/7 One of their specials. A bit lacking in substance, couldn’t really taste the prawn. Lots of veggies though and it was all freshly made. Wings: 5/7 Decently fried and still juicy with a crispy outside. Overall quite ordinarily “good”. Fried potato cube: 4/7 Just a fried potato cube. What’s there to say… tasted like minimal.
One of the best fried chicken burgers in NZ. The burger is huge and messy just the way it should be. You cannot get a more scenic view while enjoying your burger while at Lake Tekapo or in the Mt Cook vicinity. We also had the potato bites, which are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Their wings portion is also very generous and perfectly battered.
The best burger that I’ve had so far in NZ. We ordered their pork belly burger and the buttermilk fried chicken burger. The slow cooked and grilled pork belly was very tender and the juicy crispy chicken best match with their aioli sauce. Also, a thumb up for their yummy homemade potato bites!
