Best fish and chips I've had in New Zealand so far. The batter was wonderfully light and crisp. They stayed crispy even after a 10-minute walk to my accommodation. The chips were heavenly, though I’d suggest enjoying them fresh on-site if possible. The tartar sauce was savory, refreshing, and had a unique tang that I've not tasted before. Despite the cold weather, the lady boss was warm and welcoming. Comes with a bit of a wait, but it's definitely worth it!
The best fried squid I've ever eaten in my life - good crunch and extremely flavourful. Chips were done well with the addition of an exceptional tatare sauce and refreshing coleslaw. The owners are also very lovely and kind.
Not gonna say that these are the best fish and chips you're ever gonna eat (I mean they operate from a trailer cart to be fair), but definitely the best fish and chips you're gonna get in this area. The owners are really friendly and polite. Fish was good as were the fries and squid. Portions were fairly large. The coleslaw was also freshing and tasty (definitely unlike the usual kinds that just have vegetables swimming in mayo). The only downside is that they don't own their own place, so we had to eat in the freezing wind/cold.
