How can you not give this location 5 stars. Beautiful views across Lake Tekapo with Mount Cook in the background. Beautiful old Church perfectly positioned to take advantage of Gods creation. Views just as good looking out from the inside. We visited in October and sky was blue, Mountains still covered in thick snow and the water was crystal clear. Just beautiful.

The place feels like you are in Hollywood movies. This heavenly beautiful landscape is one of the most attractive mind soothing spots of New Zealand. The sky, mountains and water in the background makes this place very beautiful. You get a vibe of tranquility.

Stunning! If you can, time your visit for sunrise or early morning - even if you don't get lucky with bright colors, you're more likely to have the place to yourself and get good lighting. Be aware that the church is only open for services on Sundays, so you won't be able to go in the rest of the time. You can look in the back window to get a sense of the inside, and the surroundings are gorgeous enough that it doesn't feel like missing out.

Would probably start going to church a lot more if I stayed at the area.. one of the most amazing church with the craziest backdrop. Absolutely worth a visit and hope you get good weather if you do visit. Also seems like a great place for night photography.

The church is located on the far end of Tekapo. There is parking outside the church but there is also a parking lot across the Mclaren footbridge. The church is fenced so it is closed off at night. We went quite early in the morning so the grounds were still closed. The grounds look quite nice with the paving to the church. We went around the church and it was nice to look at it from all directions. The surrounding area is also quite beautiful, particularly when the surrounding mountains are snow-capped. This is something that is seen in many photos and something that you are also able to do yourself. Although nice to look up from up close, it is also quite nice from afar due to the scenic placement. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Tekapo.
