One of the few restaurants that are still open at night, Kohan gets packed very quickly and we did have to wait approx 15-20 minutes to get a table later in the night. Soup and tea were very soothing and food was well made, however we found that the portion sizes were very very small so bear in mind you will need to order a fair number of dishes if you’ve got a big appetite!

There is no other place to have a great time out with great food! We were lucky to get a seat as a walk in today as our last min plans ended up staying 1 night in Lake Tekapo. This is one restaurant not to be missed! Great service and food. 5 ⭐????????

Best Japanese cuisine in the area! We ordered a bento, an egg& fried pork chop don and a cream brûlée. All of the are delicious! The bento satisfies my appetite of all typical Japanese dishes: sashimi, tempura and tamagoyaki. My partner said the pork chop is juicy and crispy. Also the cream brûlée surprised us with the aromatic and balanced taste. Definitely worth a re-visit!

The staff are all very kind as soon as they get in. It's a friendly service that makes you feel good. It was the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. It was perfect for lunch. I wanted to avoid burdensome food because I was traveling, so the best choice!! It was especially soft as the salmon melted lightly. I thought the quality was really good, I want to visit again next time????
